It is always a lively game when Old Aloysians come to town and so it proved on a perfect footballing day at the Rugby ground. Three key players dropping out on the morning of the game didn’t affect the mood and the changing room was upbeat. No game the previous week meant the Reds were raring to get going again. With Glenn unavailable debutant Jordan Gutteridge stepped in alongside Dom at centre half. The game didn’t evolve as your typical Division 4 north fixture as the opposition from Highgate were a team who brought with them a style of skillfull passing which is rarely seen at this level. Even more surprising was the fact that the WHOLE team were Colombian! All the on field chat was in their native Latin tongue and gave the game an international feel. Aloysians energy levels took Parkfield by surprise and Reds struggled to cope with the workrate from the Highgate outfit. A one sided first half was somewhat shocking but Reds went in halftime only two goals down at 2-4 .

Halftime gave shellshocked Parkfield the opportunity to reconfigure their approach to the contest and they came out second half more energised. Reds took the game by the scruff of the neck and after many quality moves and attacks , managed to claw their way back to 4-4. With 12 minutes remaining an unsavoury incident resulted in Oussama feeling that he could no longer continue and consequently left the pitch. The considerable delay meant that Parkfield’s rhythm was disrupted. However substitute Jordan who had only been on the pitch for 4 minutes got an unlikely winner in the 88th minute. Or so we thought. From very little attacking activity Aloysians managed to hit Parkfield with two sucker punches in the 93rd and 94th minutes to pinch the points. 5-6. Scorers Delton, Jordan, Kacey, Sima, Dom.
